Description
A Shaligram or Shaligram Shila is a fossilized stone or ammonite collected from the riverbed or banks of the Kali Gandaki a tributary of the Gandaki river in Nepal. It is also considered a form of Vishnu within Hinduism. There are many types of Shaligram Shilas like-Hrishikesh, Laxmi-Narayan, Vasudeva, Narayana, Madhava, Laxmi-Narayan Sudarshan Shaligram, Damodara and Purushottam Shaligram. It is the most Sacred Stone worshipped by Vaishnavas and is used to worship Lord Vishnu. One who worships Shaligram gets immense wealth and very good health. The environment in his house becomes like Vaikunth. Peace prevails in his house and at his workplace.
Before puja wash it with Panchgavya and wash it again with Ganga Jal. Put some Kusha grass in a water pot for sprinkling purposes. Place the Shaligram Shila over some people’s leaves on a plate. Put a red or white cloth on the plate. Light the camphor, incense stick, and ghee diya.
